The session explored new funding and international cooperation opportunities for R&D&I projects linked to shared strategic challenges.
The Canary Islands Science and Technology Park Foundation of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (FCPCT-ULPGC), together with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), held an information session on 20 May 2026 aimed at research staff, focusing on opportunities to participate in international tenders promoted by multilateral organisations.
During the session, participants explored the opportunities offered by organisations such as the United Nations, the World Bank and the African Development Bank for the development of high-impact international projects in strategic areas such as sustainability, health, digitalisation, energy, education and territorial resilience.
The session featured the participation of Octavio Mederos, director of the consultancy firm CODEXCA, a ULPGC partner company with more than 25 years of experience in the management and implementation of projects secured through international tenders. During his presentation, he explained how these processes work, their main requirements and the role that university research staff can play in this type of initiative.
The activity is aligned with the objectives of the INNOVAMOS project, particularly those aimed at strengthening institutional capacities, promoting the internationalisation of R&D&I and generating cooperation networks between Europe, Macaronesia and Africa.
The session helped bring research staff closer to new avenues for attracting international funding and opportunities to take part in collaborative projects linked to shared challenges.
It also reinforces the African dimension of the INNOVAMOS project by promoting cooperation instruments that can facilitate future joint initiatives with African entities and territories in strategic areas of common interest.
