The Canary Islands Science and Technology Park Foundation of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) will host an event on 4 November to introduce businesses and researchers to opportunities for collaboration, funding and participation in international projects and tenders
The internationalisation of research and access to new markets offer opportunities to expand the reach of scientific, technological and business projects developed in the Canary Islands. With this aim, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) will hold the “Opportunities in Multilateral Organisations” event on 4 November, from 12:00 to 14:00, bringing together institutional representatives and specialists from international organisations to explore new avenues for collaboration and participation in projects with a global scope.
The event, which will take place in the auditorium of the ULPGC Science and Technology Park Foundation, is aimed at the University’s teaching and research staff, as well as local businesses interested in exploring the opportunities offered by multilateral financial institutions in the areas of internationalisation, knowledge transfer and access to international tenders.
New opportunities for research and businesses in the Canary Islands
The event will begin with an institutional welcome by Sebastián López Suárez, Vice-Rector for Institutional Coordination, Knowledge Transfer and Business Relations at the ULPGC.
This will be followed by a presentation from Octavio Mederos, Partner and Managing Director of CODEXCA, who will introduce a ULPGC pilot project designed to facilitate access for teaching and research staff to initiatives promoted by multilateral financial institutions. The project aims to encourage the participation of the research community in international projects and explore new opportunities for applying and transferring knowledge generated at the University.
The programme will continue with a presentation by Pablo Martín Carbajal, CEO and Managing Director of PROEXCA, who will outline the support mechanisms provided by the Government of the Canary Islands to help businesses participate in international tenders.
The World Bank and IDB present opportunities for collaboration
The second part of the event will focus on the opportunities offered by two of the world’s leading multilateral financial institutions.
Sara Hormigo, Partnerships Specialist at the World Bank, will discuss opportunities for internationalisation and knowledge transfer associated with the institution, as well as potential avenues for collaboration that businesses and research teams can explore.
Meanwhile, Queila Delgado, Investment Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), will examine opportunities for collaboration and participation in projects promoted by the organisation, providing attendees with insights into how they can become involved in international cooperation and development initiatives.
The event forms part of broader efforts to promote knowledge transfer and the internationalisation of research and business activities, areas in which the ULPGC Science and Technology Park Foundation plays an important role in supporting and strengthening connections between the University and the business community.
Registration is now open and can be completed through this link.
The event is part of the activities carried out under INNOVAMOS, co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg MAC Programme.
