Universidade de São Tomé e Príncipe (USTP) is the national public university of São Tomé and Príncipe, established in 2014 to unify and strengthen higher education in the country. It offers academic, research, and community outreach activities with scientific, pedagogical, and administrative autonomy.
USTP aims to train professionals with entrepreneurial skills and independent thinking to support the country’s sustainable development. It comprises three main faculties: the Institute of Education and Communication (ISEC), the Faculty of Science and Technology (FCT), and the Institute of Health Sciences Victor Sá Machado (ISCSSM), offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in diverse fields such as education, communication, agronomy, law, economics, IT, nursing, and psychology.
The university also hosts the Center for Development Studies (CED), which is being integrated into a broader research network. USTP positions itself as a comprehensive, research-driven, inclusive, and internationally engaged institution. It promotes interdisciplinary education, social responsibility, and sustainable practices, while maintaining strong ties with local communities and global academic partners.
