On 20 November 2025, the island of Fuerteventura hosted a new edition of Africagua, one of the leading international forums on water, renewable energy, sustainability, and investment. Organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Fuerteventura, the event brings together African governments, companies, universities, investors, and multilateral organizations to strengthen cooperation between West Africa, the European Union, and the outermost regions of Macaronesia.
The InnoVamos project, coordinated by FCPCT-ULPGC, actively participated in this strategic event through direct engagement with companies, institutions, and innovation stakeholders across the programme.
This participation falls under Activity 1.1, focused on the institutional presentation of the project and the dissemination of its actions and results at relevant innovation events. It also contributes to strengthening other key areas of InnoVamos, such as promoting open innovation, enhancing university–industry collaboration, and supporting the international visibility of the regional innovation ecosystem.
Africagua offered an exceptional opportunity to reinforce connections with public and private actors from countries such as Senegal, Mauritania, Cabo Verde, Gambia, and Morocco, whose representatives contributed to various sessions and technical panels. The discussions addressed key topics including water management challenges, energy transition, sustainable infrastructure, and emerging regional cooperation opportunities.
In the weeks leading up to the event, InnoVamos also co-organized—together with the Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce and PROEXCA—an online training session on 30 October aimed at the European and African startups selected as finalists in the Africagua 2025 Global Startup Competition. This session showcased the research strengths, technological capabilities, and innovation solutions of the ULPGC in the fields of water and renewable energy.
By participating in Africagua, InnoVamos continues to consolidate its role as a key actor in the transnational innovation ecosystem, fostering opportunities for technology transfer, collaborative project development, and entrepreneurship between Macaronesia and West Africa. The event further reinforced the project’s engagement in addressing shared challenges such as sustainability, digitalization, renewable energy integration, and the valorization of scientific knowledge.
Through this participation, InnoVamos advances its mission: building a more connected, competitive, and sustainable innovation ecosystem, capable of generating impact through international cooperation, scientific excellence, and strong engagement with the private sector.
The InnoVamos Project is funded by the Interreg MAC 2021-2027 Programme.
